Greg: At one point in the battle we were taking cover alongside Tac 1 and I had a chat with Dave Woods [the Adjutant] who told me how carrying the radio was making him a target. He was killed a few minutes later.

I don't recall being particularly surprised when we got the message that the CO was down. And from my immediate point of view it didn't affect how the rest of the day went. I remember thinking that the correspondent who had been responsible for broadcasting our position on the BBC was probably quite relieved.
